One of the biggest misconceptions or biggest misunderstanding that a lot of people who want to get involved in a new business, is about the cost of starting a business and getting customers. They also have questions about getting new leads, getting people to do business with you, how to create sales, and generate revenue.

I have spent the last 21 years as an entrepreneur. I have many different ways, many different methods to get your business started, and so on. I want to share some reasons why so many people are considering starting businesses that they had never thought they would get involved in.

So, number one, 1.9 million more people filed for unemployment. That means over 42 million people are unemployed in the United States right now. So, people are basically saying that they don’t have a job, they have been laid off, so they need something to pay their bills. Also, contrary to what many people believe, now is the perfect time to start a business. That is so many people are starting their entrepreneurial journey now. So, how do you get the leads, how do you get the business? I will share with you the different ways to get customers that cost money (a lot actually). But, I will also give you a solution, an idea of what doesn’t cost money. And it is something that I have been using for the last 8-9 years now.

So, the typical ways to generate leads that most entrepreneurs use are mails, tv ads, social media ads, email marketing, telemarketing, newspaper ads, radio, text messages, doing events, or just hiring a lead generation company. All of these methods cost money. Some cost a lot. More than what first-time entrepreneurs can afford. So, what’s the solution? Is there a way that costs nothing and yet markets your business just as effectively?

Well, there is. And it’s called word of mouth.

You might be asking yourself if it really can be that easy. Well, it is! You can make magic happen by getting the word out by talking to a lot of people. So, how do you do it? It’s quite simple really. You need to send out referrals, and incentivize people to bring in other people to your business. You can call people which doesn’t cost that much. You can call people who have had good experiences with your business and see if they can spread the word around.

You can also attend free events to learn more and connect with people. There are many free trial events happening all the time. You can also do business with other people first who can, later on, become potential clients. This might cost you a little though. There are so many clever ways you can get business and generate leads without costing you at all or too much.
